Used in warehouses, factories and has telescopic forks at right angles to the operator so they drive straight down an aisle but pickup loads to the side. The operator is seated at the controls although some models are for standing.

Since September 1, 2009, forklift licence training and assessment for high-risk work must be conducted through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The nationally recognised course “TLILIC0003 Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck” as seen on www.training.gov leads to the LF Class High-Risk Work (HRW) licence, as per the National Standards for Licensing Persons Performing High-Risk Work. This course is part of the TLI Transport and Logistics training package.
Upon completion, students receive:
- Statement of Attainment: TLILIC0003 – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck
- Interim Safework Notice: Upon passing the course and assessment, students must present the Safework Notice to Australia Post within 60 days along with valid ID to finalise the licensing process.
Key Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Provide 100 points of identification with proof of NSW residency.
- Be able to understand English
- Complete a registered training course.
- Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for safe forklift operation.
- Pass an assessment conducted by an approved Safework assessor under realistic workplace conditions.
Important Notes:
- This is a national licence, but the course must be completed in your state of residence.
- The licence is valid for 5 years and must be renewed to continue operating a forklift.
- A high-risk work licence is required for any forklift work, regardless of the scale or cost or size of work

Course Overview
This course offers training at either your workplace or our facility, servicing NSW, including regional areas. This is a face-to-face training course It provides the necessary knowledge and skills to safely operate a forklift. Ideal for those seeking employment in logistics, warehousing, construction, farming, or mining, the course uses multimedia presentations, workbooks, handouts, and practical exercises. Nominated Training hours for this course total 40, with the course spanning two to three days. Time extensions are provided at no extra cost if required to achieve competency.
For students with specific learning needs, ForkTime offers adjustments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The course includes a closed-book assessment consisting of around 60 questions, with a focus on both theoretical and practical knowledge. High-risk work assessments must be completed in English, verbally or written.
